Smell
The characteristic scent of every living creature is carried in molecules that leave the body in the form of sweat, breath, bodily wastes and so on. With every step you take you leave behind millions of sweat-borne molecules which lay a scent trail.
Creatures that spend most of their time in the air cannot mark the ground with a scent trail; yet butterflies in the mating season can attract a mate from miles away by scent alone. The female butterfly carries a store of perfume weighing one ten thousandth of a milligram, and she squirts a tiny fraction of it into the air. These scent molecules can be detected by a male seven miles away!
Christian Friend, bought by the blood of Christ, how do you smell? 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 tells us that God intends to make Himself known to others through us. By giving us victory over sin and self and Satan in our lives, God intends to make the sweet fragrance of His own life in us, known to others. To those who know Him by salvation, we are a sweet smell, a delight, a joy, an encouragement to live for the Lord. To those who are unsaved, who know Him not, we carry the smell of death and conviction, and judgment.
What kind of scent trail do you leave behind? Do other know there has been a child of God in their presence after you are gone?
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? 2 Corinthians 2:14-16
