God is Preparing You
David, part three
God was not with King Saul anymore because
King Saul had turned away from God. King Saul was a troubled man. Oh, if he had only taken
his problems to the One Who said, "Let not your heart be troubled" (John
14:1). King Saul should have trusted in God.
Saul looked for someone who could play
beautiful music to comfort him. Someone told him of a shepherd boy who could sing and play
on the harp. Can you guess who that was? It was David! David had a reputation as the sweet
psalmist of Israel. David might have thought no one saw him, no one heard him, no one
cared, but not only was God watching, others could see him, too! Do you do your
dishes, your homework, your chores, your jobs for the eyes of God and men? Do they take
note of your lovely work and your wonderful attitude? Keep doing them well and they will
notice in time.
Saul didn't yet know that David was to be the
next king. David was brought to the palace to play for King Saul. It was there he would
learn the things he would need to know to be king. God was preparing this teen aged young
man for his tomorrow.
Do not despise or hate the little duties of life. It is often in these things that God builds character and makes boys into men and girls into ladies. Be faithful and dependable where you are. "Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, and He will exalt you in due time." God is preparing you for your tomorrow. His setting and situation and design for you are perfect. He makes no mistakes. "All things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28).
Read about David in the service of King Saul in 1 Samuel 16:14-23.
