How does a lion look? Lions are the largest of African cats. Full grown they can be ten feet long from the tip of their noses to the end of their tails. They can stand four feet high at their shoulders and can weigh 500 pounds. The male lion alone has a mane that can be about one and a half feet long, full around his head. The lions favorite food is meat, especially fresh killed meat, but when it is sick it will nibble on grass just like house cats do. Lions like to sleep and rest and play in the shade during the day. It is at night that they hunt, always moving in the direction from which the wind blows, to surprise their victim. Lions only kill to satisfy their hunger.
God tells us in the Bible that we have a very real enemy who is very much like a hungry lion. He is none other than the devil and he is very real. The believerthe one who has trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his only God and Saviour from sindoes not have to worry or fear the devil. God tells us in 1 Peter 5:8, Be sober, be vigilantthat means be self-controlled and alert because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. We are told to resist him in the faith. Faith in the living God and His Word are our sure defense against our enemy. Cast all your care and anxiety and worry and fear on the Lord, because He never stops caring about you.
It matters to God about you.
[1 Peter 5:711] "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
