Enoch: A Hero of Faith
And he died . . . and he died . . . and he died . . . and he died. Over and over again
we read in Genesis chapter five the testimony of death until we come to the man,
Enoch. And we read in Genesis 5:24, Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for
God took him. What happened to Enoch? He simply disappeared. God took him!
Enoch is listed in God's Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11:5, By faith Enoch was
translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had
translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased
God. God removed Enoch. God changed Enoch's position from one place to
another. God took Enoch home to Himself. Why? Because he pleased God. Enoch
walked with God, going God's way, in God's direction, at God's pace. Enoch
walked with God by faith.
Without faith it is impossible to please God: for he that comes to God must believe
that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him, Hebrews
11:6. We walk with God by knowing and understanding that God is real (not make
believe; not an idol) and that He rewards those who trust in Him, taking Him at
His Word. We walk with God by faith, believing and obeying His Word.
There is a generation of believing Christians that will not see death. Those who are alive and remain at the coming of the Lord Jesus will be translated to heaven. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.
